GOLDEN OLDIES ADVENTURES ABOUT?
With an alarming increase in the number of elderly people living alone and isolated in their homes, there is a growing need for initiatives to get people out of their homes to do more things and have some fun.
Too many people who used to lead full and interesting lives have, for whatever reason, become disconnected with friends and activities that they used to enjoy.
Golden Oldies Adventures is a FREE service for elderly people who would like to get out and about more, meet new people and be more connected with their communities.
We will pick you up from your home for some fun outings and help you to connect to other people, groups and activities in your community, which you will then be able to continue doing independent of this service.
Activities and adventures can be
tailor-made for you so that you can see places and do things that make you happy.
You may wish to go to the beach or take a scenic drive around Wellington or out for morning tea and a chat.
We want to make your world bigger and brighter.
Who are we?
Golden Oldies Adventures has been established by Helen Scott with the sole purpose of making a positive difference to the lives of elderly people living alone in their community.
Helen is a Registered Nurse who is passionate about creating fun and enjoyment in the lives of elderly people who could do with a helping hand. Helen has the ability and resources to do this and together with her sidekick Tinkerbell hopes she can make a positive difference for you in your life.
Tinkerbell is elderly friendly - easy to get in and out of with lots of space for mobility walkers and the like.
Helen has the help and support of a range of people in the community that she is able to call on to assist both in finding fantastic, enjoyable activities and in reestablishing and creating new connections.

Adventures can be tailor-made to suit each individual and we will work this out together.
Here are a few examples of adventures that Tinkerbell can take you on.
In addition to adventurous outings we can help you connect to other people and existing services and groups in the community such as Community Centers and sports and hobbies clubs.
We can also help you re-connect with family or friends that you may have lost contact with.
While we don’t provide people with the equipment, we can help you to connect to technology if you have a cellphone or computer by finding websites you may be interested in, podcasts and audiobooks. We can also teach you how to use these if you don’t already know.
We can create music playlists of your favourite music and teach you to operate them independently.
